However much we plan, moving day presents unexpected challenges and surprises.
These tips will make your move as painless as possible:
- Pack Essentials
Think of it as a weekend getaway bag. Include all your personal toiletries for daily use, from medications to valuables and phone chargers.
- Protect Important Documents
Grab all important documents related to your move: closing papers, home owner’s insurance, car insurance, mover’s contracts, a copy of the inventory in the moving truck, and a backup of important files just in case something happens in transit.
- Keep Tools On Hand
Take extra packing tape, camera, chargers, laptop/tablet and cords, Phillips and regular screwdrivers, box cutter, tape measure, first aid kit, permanent markers, flashlight and a corkscrew.
- Pamper the Movers
Have cash to tip your movers, water, snacks and cleaning wipes for the entire moving party. That includes you!
Is it time to dig out that corkscrew yet?
