Principal brokers with Wydler Brothers Real Estate, Steve and Hans Wydler have spent decades working with buyers in the Washington, DC area. They noticed a high percentage of prospective home buyers start out thinking they may want to build a custom home but then end up buying an already built “spec” home or working directly with a builder to modify a home that is in the process of being built.

Steve and Hans believe the reason most potential custom home prospects pivot into a pre-built home is because these buyers have the sequencing of steps out of order. In their professional opinion, rather than END the process with the custom home builder, one should BEGIN the process with the custom home builder.

About this often misunderstood process of building a custom home, Steve and Hans recently wrote an article in the Washington Post. Read the entire article here .

Steve had this to say about working with Joy Design + Build:

“I’ve known John Joy for years and have always been impressed by the quality and thought that go into his homes.  I recently had the opportunity to work with John and his team to build a custom home for my buyer clients.  Building a custom home can sometimes be a daunting proposition (in fact, my brother and I wrote an article about it).  John and his team made it go as smooth as possible.  John has been attentive and patient  throughout —  from helping my buyers to see the potential of the opportunity, to securing the lot, to explaining the process, to showing his previous homes, to designing the home, to making selections, to the actual build.  John has assembled a first class team.  I look forward to working with him again in the near future.”

Thank you, Steve! We love working with you and your team too!
